  • 18twenty8

18twenty8 is an award-winning, women-led non-profit organisation that empowers young women, between the ages of 18 and 28, by providing access to female mentors, leadership development camps, life-skills workshops and funding for higher education. The funding that we provide to our beneficiaries is received from various donors, one of whom recently notified us that they would like to fund Coloured and Indian female students pursuing Commerce-related studies.

    The applicants must:

    • Be no older than 28 years of age by 31 December 2020
    • Be enrolled in Commerce-related studies (either undergraduate or postgraduate in any year of study)
    • Demonstrate social consciousness through involvement in outreach projects
    • Demonstrate leadership capability
    • Be in financial need

An average grade is not specified as the preference is to widen the opportunity to young women who persevere in passing their studies whether they are top academic achievers or not. Our application process is via WhatsApp as that is cost-efficient for students and we ask that they submit the following:

    • 2020 proof of registration
    • 2 page CV
    • Certified copy of I D
    • Latest academic transcript
    • Latest fees statement
    • Student loan account statement, if any
    • 1 minute WhatsApp video explaining who you are, what Commerce-related degree you are studying, how the funding will help you, how you will use your qualification to help others, why you approached 18twenty8 to assist and the full costs of your studies for the year. WhatsApp number is 060 798 7683.

If you have any questions please email info@18twenty8.org or WhatsApp 060 798 7683.

Closing date to apply is 17h00 on Friday 31 July 2020.

Over the past decade, 18twenty8's Financial Assistance Programme has helped young women graduate in various fields of study, consistent with our vision of a South Africa in which girls and young women are educated and empowered to lead. Click here learn about the graduates’ journeys.
