In 2018, UCT launched the new School of Information Technology in response to the growing needs of the South African and global tech industry, and the increasing demand for university qualifications in the sector.

The 4th revolution is on the horizon and developments such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analysis and Cloud Computing are resulting in technologies becoming part of our daily lives. The Internet is around us all the time with the watches we wear, the phones we use and the way we communicate.

The School of Information Technology at UCT leverages the excellent research and teaching of the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Information Systems to create a new pool of talent, transforming the IT sector and responding to the national agenda for ICT.
